Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 2026
1. Overview
Welcome to HowMany. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any information you share with us. This Privacy Policy outlines how your data is handled when you visit our website and play our estimation games.
2. Local Storage & Game Data
HowMany stores your streak history, guess history for the current puzzle, and preferences (such as sound settings) directly on your device using your browser's localStorage API. This information stays on your device — we do not tie it to your name, email, or any other identifier.
3. Guess Checking & Aggregate Statistics
When you submit a guess, it's sent to our server to be checked against that day's answer, so the answer itself is never exposed in the app. We also keep an anonymous, aggregate count of how many people played each puzzle and how many guesses it took — for example, to show "how everyone did today." These counts are not linked to your identity, IP address, or device in any way we can use to identify you.
4. Third-Party Advertising & Cookies
We may use third-party vendors, including Google, to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
5. Children's Privacy
Our game is designed for a general audience and does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
